California Common, or Steam Beer, originated on the West Coast of the USA and is brewed with a lager yeast without the use of refrigeration. Anchor Brewery (San Francisco) is attributed with the modern Steam Beer, and trademarked the term in 1981 hence the use of the term California Common.
Murray’s Alcatraz California Common is tawny in colour with a medium bodied malt character and a distinct fruitiness from the yeast. The caramel/toffee sweetness is balanced by an assertive bitterness.
A unique beer perfect for the cooler Autumn months. Perfectly paired with a BBQ pork burrito.
